Project Overview

Under the initiative "Swanirbharshil Nari – Atmanirbhar Assam", Nabaprayas conducts practical handicraft training workshops centered on Waste to Wealth. By harvesting invasive water hyacinth that chokes local ponds and streams and upcycling discarded biomass, rural women weave high-value home decor, baskets, and utility products, turning ecological challenges into independent income.

The Community Need

The Problem on the Ground

Invasive water hyacinth severely damages rural water bodies, while women in agricultural and tea garden communities often lack non-farm self-employment opportunities.

  • Form self-reliant artisan clusters with direct exhibition and sales linkages.
Execution Plan

What Our Teams Do

  • Multi-day hands-on training workshops at community halls in Purajanghal

  • Product design optimization for modern utility and decorative markets
  • Exhibition stalls and craft sales facilitation at local cultural gatherings
