Project Overview

Nabaprayas Dance School trains rural girls and boys in indigenous performing arts, classical Assamese folk dance forms, and community heritage. Spearheaded by master choreographers including Dance Master Ankur Konwar, the school provides disciplined training, traditional attire, and public performance exposure.

The Community Need

The Problem on the Ground

Without dedicated grassroots academies, traditional folk dance forms like Bihu and tea garden Jhumur risk losing authentic rhythmic disciplines among modern rural youth.

Strategic Goals

Key Project Objectives

  • Conduct intensive multi-day workshops in authentic folk dance and musical rhythms.
  • Equip young dancers with traditional costumes and accessories for regional showcases.
  • Foster teamwork, poise, stage confidence, and cultural pride among village youth.
Execution Plan

What Our Teams Do

  • Specialized 7-day and monthly dance workshops guided by licensed master trainers
  • Rhythm and choreography training for Bihu, Jhumur, and ceremonial folk dances
  • Showcase performances at district cultural festivals and community celebrations
  • Peer mentorship programs connecting senior performers with young trainees
